Questions from Positively Pinawa
Hello, friends! Here are my responses for the questions from Positively Pinawa for the 2022 Election!
Sustainable Housing
I believe that people have the right to affordable housing. The old ways of urban sprawl will not serve cities in the future. We need to build dynamic, vibrant, walkable communties on a human scale.
Forest School
CBC Gem produced a documentary on Forest Schools in Manitoba and features Pinawa and F.W. Gilbert School. This type of programming is very attractive to many young families. My daughter, Emma, was in Forest School last year at F.W. Gilbert and she had a great experience. What an amazing introduction into school! This year there are 19 kids enrolled!!
Sustainable Tourism
Pinawa is at the beginning of a tourism boom. This is our chance to define what sort of tourist town we want to be. My vote is to be more like Tofino and less like Cancun, and my plan will help get us there.
Protect our Greenspaces
The natural environment in Pinawa is one of our greatest assets. Public parks, greenspaces, and reserves enhance the town environment, and improve the people’s well-being. They provide space for recreation and physical activity, improve our mood and mental health, and increase land value. However, without proper management, these vital areas are being threatened.
